I’ve always wondered what other people do when they come across a word/phrase that they’ve never heard before. I mean, do they jot it down on paper so they can look it up later, or do they stop reading to look it up on the dictionary/google it or do they just continue reading and forget about the word?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Good question! It really depends on what and where I’m reading. When I’m out and about reading, and come across something I don’t understand or have no knowledge of, I mark it with one of those Post-it flags. I always have these with me! I will then look it up at home. If it’s a difficult phrase, word, passage, or whatever, and without it’s meaning is taking away from the story, I will just stop right there, mark the passage, and look this up before proceeding.

Of course when I’m at home reading, I will look up something right away.

I’m finding myself doing this more lately, as I’m reading a lot of literature from the 18th and 19th century, which happen to be British based. I’m sure this is because I’m not well versed in literature from this time period. This will change once I read more from this time period.

Working on hosting my first challenge

My daughter and I are a huge Gilmore Girls fans. I was thinking about starting a challenge based on Rory Gilmore’s book club. This list used to be posted on the main WB website, but it seems that it’s no longer available. I have found a list on a comcast website, promoting the book club. This is the one I will be using. I think this challenge will be a lot of fun. Quite a few great novels on this list. Rory is very well read!

Set up will have to wait until I return from working the next few nights.

Testing 1-2-3, A First Post

I admit, I’m new to the blogging world. It’s taken me most of 24 hours to figure the BASICs of wordpress. This will be a constant work in progress. I envision getting several books about the subject, CSS HTML, oh my!

My goal was to alleviate the use of a paper journal for my books. I’m finding that having a blog is making my journal much more organized. However, I will still always maintain a paper journal. Writing on paper is more personal and much faster! I can most certainly journal on the fly!

I’m looking forward to seeing where this blog takes me. Seeing that several other bookish bloggers have multiple blogs, I’m sure I’m to follow. Lot’s of ideas are floating in this head of mine.
